The Norman castles in Apulia

Through about forty photos that alternate between wide views of millennia-old castles and details that could be illuminations, the Italian photographer Nicola Amato takes us on a powerful journey through time, also showcasing the landscapes between sea and mountains of this splendid region of Puglia.

 His photos also remind us how, a thousand years ago, the Normans spread across the four corners of the European continent, bringing with them their culture, their taste for war, but also the finesse of the artists who accompanied them.
