Artistic creations around the sarcophagus of Judith of Brittany

The Bleu Banane association presents the sixth edition of its biennial À l’Œuvre, in partnership with the Museum of Bernay. Hosted in the Chapter House of the Bernay Abbey, the exhibition offers a contemporary reinterpretation of Judith of Brittany, ancestor of William the Conqueror and founder of the abbey.

The project relies on a strong complementarity of perspectives: the Museum of Bernay provides a scientific and archaeological discourse around this historical figure and the questions related to her sarcophagus, while around thirty local artists freely appropriate this subject. Painting, drawing, engraving, ceramics, photography, video, and installation compose a plural exhibition where contemporary creation and medieval memory engage in close dialogue.
