During the summer of 2027, the Dominican art center and art library presents "Traces, Resonances of Norman Heritage".

"Traces" takes the form of a large contemporary art exhibition in the art center as well as outdoors throughout the city of Pont-l'évêque, aiming to explore the testimonies left by the Norman people over a millennium across various territories.

The project proposes an artistic reflection on the notion of trace, understood as the imprint left by the passage of an individual, a group, or a civilization. Within the framework of Millenium, this approach makes perfect sense: it is precisely these traces—architectural, votive, artistic, or landscape—that allow us to reconstruct and imagine the plural history of the Normans through the centuries.

Rather than seeking to cement an "official" history of the Normans, the project chooses a sensitive and contemporary path. It highlights the multiplicity of Norman realities that have succeeded each other over a millennium, each with its codes, rites, traditions, and forms.

At a time when historical narratives are being questioned, contemporary art allows for the opening of new spaces for interpretation, the updating of remnants, and the renewal of our perspective on Norman heritage.
