Show in a week starting from the words of residents about the legacy of William the Conqueror. In Itinere Collectif offers several stops in Normandy. What happens during a stop? The collective arrives on Monday and meets as many people as possible: associations, farmers, municipal councils, businesses, schools, police, senior clubs, passersby... From Monday to Wednesday, they gather stories, anecdotes, habits, favorite places, and connections to the past. Discussions can last for hours depending on the villagers' wishes. Then on Thursday and Friday, the collective imagines and rehearses a 1 hour and 15-minute performance, created from these narratives. On Saturday, this performance, necessarily "unique," is presented to the whole town - a family-friendly show - that humorously and poetically addresses the issues, past, and desires of this community! A stop. Here, In Itinere aims to question the legacy of William the Conqueror more specifically. How does this story move us? Does the presence of this character change (or not) our relationship with the city, its history, the region? If this legacy influences us today, is it a joy, an honor, or a burden? And Mathilde? What role do we assign her today? Do we know her story or does she remain in the shadow of William? Talking about William the Conqueror to discuss his life today: who would be a William the Conqueror today? Who would be Queen Mathilde? How is this story passed down? The borders have changed significantly over a thousand years. What makes a people today? What constitutes "common culture"? How is history written every day? Can we understand and grasp the grand history through the small stories? Everyone is welcome.
