A sung epic

The Ouistreham Choir presents an artistic project dedicated to a lesser-known page of Norman history: the epic of the Normans in the Mediterranean and their reign in Sicily in the 12th century.

Through the figure of the Hautevilles, pioneers of intercultural dialogue in Europe, this creation invites us to rediscover a history whose resonances remain relevant today. To accompany this exploration, the choir is engaged in a collective writing effort: an original narrative will punctuate the concerts and guide the listening experience.

The project takes the form of a narrative and musical concert, highlighting the local historical heritage. It combines ancient Norman songs, music, and texts recounting the story of Roger II, performed by 80 amateur choristers from the Ouistreham Choir, accompanied by two professional musicians.
