Musical performance in a remarkable location

This musical performance invites you to follow the journey of la Folia, an emblematic theme in the history of European music, from Northern Europe to the eastern Mediterranean shores. Through this sonic crossing, a violinist, a saxophonist, and a bassoonist retrace the evolution of a motif that has fascinated composers for centuries.

In the Saint-Pierre-Saint-Paul church of Renouard, which likely dates back to the 11th century, the Improbart trio highlights the richness and evocative power of the Folia.

From Purcell's Ground to Vivaldi's variations, the performers explore repetitive and hypnotic forms, whose influence stretches into the music of North Africa.
The musicians themselves adapt works from diverse repertoires for their formation with unique timbres, offering a contemporary reinterpretation that respects the original works.

Between classical music, folk traditions, and current influences, this program weaves a vibrant dialogue between eras, territories, and cultures.
