When Fashion is Reused

On Saturday, October 9, 2027, at the Abbey of Graville, an event evening will take place during which the Atelier de la Matière will present the result of a year of work conducted with the residents of the city and local fashion schools.

- From 4 PM to 7 PM, the exhibition "Through the Craftsmanship" will showcase photographs, videos, fashion drawings, and textile research, tracing participatory work and the different stages of the creative process.

- From 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM, the fashion show "Tribute to Mathilde of Flanders" will highlight a collection inspired by Norman textile art around the year 1027 and the figure of Mathilde of Flanders, wife of William the Conqueror. The evening will continue with a friendly aperitif.

The collection is designed using linen scraps from the local textile sector and reused fabrics, in a process of enhancing raw materials that are often undervalued.

- From September to June 2027, participatory workshops introducing hand embroidery will be organized every Tuesday from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM at Val Soleil. These practice sessions will allow for creating patterns inspired by the Bayeux Tapestry and Norman iconography, with the assistance of qualified facilitators. The completed embroideries will be incorporated into the pieces of the collection.

Practical information: Access to the exhibition and fashion show is charged (price: €5 per person). The participatory embroidery workshops are free and open to all.
