Discovering the most famous custom of France

The exhibition is designed by experts in the custom of Normandy, under the direction of Sophie Poirey, and is imagined for all audiences.

It is presented in the graffiti rooms of the Manoir du Catel, where those awaiting their judgment were held in this place built under Saint Louis by Richard de Treigos, the 10th Abbot of Fécamp.

Panels, documents, and illustrations allow us to trace the history, principles, and anecdotes that punctuate the deployment of this binding cement of Norman identity beyond the borders of Normandy.

A beautiful discovery of the most famous custom of France that has traversed centuries and major historical events and remains alive in the Channel Islands!
