In the footsteps of Renart the fox and Tibert the cat

As part of the event "The Tale of Renart: a Norman journey," a bike ride is offered to explore, in a concrete way, the territories mentioned in the Tale of Renart. Starting from the House of the Forest, the route goes through the Cerisy forest before opening up to a varied landscape, rich in still unknown heritage.

The path leads to the discovery of rural churches from the Romanesque period, a medieval mill-bridge, and the site of the Molay castle, embedding the literary tale within a precise geographical and historical context. The hike thus sheds light on the connections between forest environment, feudal society, and centers of power, at the heart of an ancient forest of the dukes of Normandy.

The route is the subject of a leaflet included in the hiking topographic sheets provided by the Isigny-Omaha Intercom Tourist Office.

Practical information: approximately 30 km bike ride, for a day. Picnic to be provided.

Partnerships: House of Research in Human Sciences of Caen (MRSH) and Isigny-Omaha Intercom
