The tables of heritage

In the time of William the Conqueror, the table reflects the organization of society, its hierarchies, and its practices. What remains of it today? What agricultural practices, what landscapes, what productions has Normandy inherited from the past? And how do we imagine medieval tables?

Supported by the Saint Val Focale Photographic Workshops association, this project explores these questions through three photographic exhibitions. By confronting medieval legacies and contemporary perspectives, they question our current relationship with food and representations of the past.

Presented outdoors in the town of Saint-Valery-en-Caux, these exhibitions are freely accessible through a pathway, from the facade of the town hall to the seafront, up to the Maison Henri IV, inviting residents and visitors to a stroll at the intersection of history, agriculture, and food practices of yesterday and today.
